The Hiriko is a 100% electric “microcar” that’s about the size of a Smart Car – until it folds up for parking. In compact mode, it measures just five feet long- small enough to fit three in one parking spot.

Other relevant information
This project was born in January of 2010. During this time, the “citycar” concept developed by the MIT has been picked-up and an enterprise consortium has been formed of co-manufacturing enterprises that have developed its initial prototype and industrialization by means of an innovative production and distribution model.

Business

Proven and/or potential effects:
Deutsche Bahn, the international mobility supplier and also the company that operates the German railway network, has chosen the Hiriko electric vehicle –promoted by a Basque corporate consortium- to complete its transport network in Berlin. Both entities have reached a collaboration agreement this morning in the German capital to initiate a pilot project with which to progressively incorporate the Basque vehicle into the car sharing network with which Deutche Bahn completes its railway services.
